The Times They Are A-Changin – Stories about CHANGE and NEW BEGINNINGS

0

“Change and new beginnings” will be the theme of our next Bonnections book club reading at Bonn’s Central Library on November 2nd.

US-singer songwriter Bob Dylan has been rewarded with the 2016 Nobel Prize in Literature. He is the first musician to win the award. The 75-year old rebel spirit and writer of protest songs like “Blowin’ in the Wind” and “The Times They Are a-Changin’,”  has not yet commented on the honor.

Don’t Look Back  was filmed during Dylan’s 1965 English concert tour. The documentary film captures Dylan at his disruptive best and chronicles the life of a traveling troubadour who became the voice of a generation.

Our intercultural book club likes to pay tribute to Bob Dylan as well as Carolin Emcke, who won the 2016 peace prize of the German Book Trade.

In additon to these two award winners, we will also present other voices of change, such as Che Guevara , Simone de Beauvoir, Marjane Satrapi and Mahmoud Darwish.

Watch this amazing visual translation of Darwish’s “The Dice Player” (with English subtitles) as a teaser.

The Bonnections book club meets every first Wednesday of the month at 6 pm (18h) at the Central Library (Haus der Bildung, Mülheimer Platz 1, 53111 Bonn).

We want to talk with each other, not about each other and open our horizons.

Each month, we pick another topic or genre and present international authors, share world literature, video and other media from around the globe. The readings are multilingual & free of charge.

Bonnections is a diverse group of newcomers and old-timers, new and old Bonners, We meet every other Thursday (2nd and 4th week of the month) starting at 7 pm (19h) at the BonnLAB (Zingsheimstr. 2, Bonn-Beuel) to organize our monthly readings and other intercultural activities, to share stories and ideas, to network and just have some fun together. Everyone is warmly welcome to join.
